Digging deep into the source files of BFDIA 5b.

At first I was planning to make a version of the game that could be playable on tablets. So I decided to download the source code, and used a software called "Flash Decomplier" so as to convert it into a .fla file to export as a .apk file to publish to Android tablets.

However, after looking through the decompilation, I saw some interesting assets that many may not have seen. Let's go through them one by one!

Pencil will be in the game! Somewhen...

Whaa?? Propeller Tune.

This comes the asset we've been waiting for, this appears to be a paint bucket icon for the future "Level Creator". Also, you would see an color picker and eraser, literally.

Here's a complete toolbar of the tools to be found in the creator.
Pencil, Eraser, Box, Paint Bucket, Color Picker, Selection, Row, Column, Copy, Undo and Clear.

Here we see what happens when you click 'Save'. A window pops up to input the name of the level, creator and a description. Which kind of works the same way as Algodoo actually.

We can also see different windows to add characters, objects, tiles, backgrounds and dialogue.

Thanks for reading! Just imagine the wide variety of levels you can make out of this!

How I got into the Object show fandom + How I started BFDI Trivia

Hopefully, after this, people would stop asking me how.

It started back in June 2010. I came across a video called "The Big Stuff" as I was pretty interested in astronomy. After watching this video, I was impressed. Music went well with visual. I decided to go check the channel out. I found, what appears to be a pretty decent cartoon, which I thought was just a youtube upload of a TV cartoon series. Then I was like "meh", and ignored.

Then a year passed, I came back to the same "The Big Stuff" and saw their annotation saying that they released a new video "The Large Stuff" which is said to be better. I clicked it, then, WOAH. Amazing visual and audio harmony. I went back to the channel, named 'jacknjellify'. I saw the cartoon again, now at its 20th episode. Well, I had time, so I decided to watch it anyway.

The cartoon was amazing! Nice storyline and animation. Battle for Dream Island became the best youtube series I've ever watched. However, it took me like 4 days to completely watch the whole thing up to episode 20. Then shortly after came episode 21, I watched it, it built up the suspense inside me. It made me want to watch it very badly. I eventually subscribed, when JnJ had just past 1000 subs.

Half a year has passed again, I was thrilled by the finale of BFDI. I came across the BFDI wiki page, browsed through it, and saw character pages with a section called 'Trivia' at the bottom. Then I had a surprising idea. Why not make videos about trivial things in BFDI? And so I did. I got to my movie making software, iMovie and stitched up a video containing scenes from BFDI. Needle Slaps had about a pretty decent 40 views at first week. And so made another trivia. My trivia became even more famous after BFDI Trivia 5, where I saw my stats showing my video views had tripled! And so I continued.

Right now, 1 year and 9 months since starting to watch BFDI and 1 year 4 months since starting BFDI Trivia, I feel the object show fandom has grown bigger. I'm really impressed. Thanks to everyone into supporting me and all the object shows that entertained us.

I've been quite busy again, but BFDI(A) Trivia 43 may come out this week. NO PROMISE IS MADE.

Kat Rants: What object shows could have AKA the Wants

That's right.

I'm gonna list the few stuff that I think object shows would be great to have but not necessarily important.

  • Songs - Not just any song from another source, but original songs. BFDI has done it with the 'Points are gone' Cake at Stake song. Inanimate Insanity also has done it, though not many may remember or realise this, they have a 'christmas carol' kinda thing at the end of episode 9 - The Snowdown. BOTO has done it too, with its most recent episode with two songs written by Anko, those songs were nice!
  • 3D Scenes - Animation done in blender with toon-shading then transported to flash/after effects to stitch 2D and 3D together. So far, I think BFDI has done it in BFDI Episode 25 with all recommended characters.
  • Official websites - With official websites built for the show, people get to enjoy greater content and viewing experience, especially newbie who just started to watch the show. Inanimate Insanity has done it, pretty well.
  • Merchandise - Just for personal ornaments, to show that they really like the show. Both Inanimate Insanity and Object Universe has done it.
  • Being a TV series - What I mean here is that have the object show be like a TV cartoon series, that has nothing much to do with the previous episode. So far, there is no object show on youtube that has this yet.
  • Games - or even interactive stuff that would let viewers appreciate content on a certain show. So far BFDI has done a game, two games in fact.
That's it.

I may make it into a video some day. Who knows?
